This is how I roll

Mama and Papa Morris are pleased to share another new skill that little Asha Ruby has developed! Onwards with the evidence:

Tee hee!

That's right... what we have here is Asha Roobs being extremely cute!

Hmm, wait a second. She has had that one licked for 5 months now! (5 months and 8 hours to be precise)

Actually, there is another new trick that A-Roob has learned in the past couple of days... a large milestone in any future circus performer's aresenal: the back-to-stomach roll!!

Asha has gotten so proficient at the roll that we can now hardly touch her down on her back before she rolls over onto her front. She has adopted the "timber-squirm" method of rolling - that is, starting by lifting her feet up in the air and letting them fall sideways (timber!) to start up the momentum. Once that is going, she reaches over with her arms and squirms the rest of the way.

But words can only describe so much; it is much more impressive to watch. Notice also how she is able to perform the roll while being extremely cute!

Check out Corinne's blog for more pictures of Asha Ruby. Her eyes look almost blue in that picture!

Baby's first Christmas

We've got a lot of catching up to do after a busy holiday season!

Little Asha Ruby prepared for the holidays with yet another first experience, one that most kids don't have before they are even 4 months old... her first haircut! Okay, so it was really just more of a trim of the bangs, but blog-worthy nonetheless. With Mama and Grandma Suzanne (aka Gama Creepers) also getting a haircut, the hairstylist got to work on three generations in a row. Let's see how Asha looks with her new 'do:

Bangs

Now, compare that to other recent shots where we've had to purposefully sweep her hair to the side to keep it out of her eyes.

Rubylicious also had her 4 month "well check" in December. Mama and Papa Morris are happy to report that everything checked out well and that her chubby cheeks pushed the scale up to 12 lb, 15 oz. Of course, after all those holiday feasts (delivered in milk form by Mama Morris of course), we're sure she has now zoomed into the 13+ lb range.

As for the Christmas festivities, it's probably fair to say that Asha quite enjoyed being given lots of attention by adoring family and friends, and receiving a bounty of gifts as only a first grandchild can. Among the many kind and generous gifts she received were 2 rockers, a stroller, a collection of Dr. Seuss, a cute red ladybug rainjacket and matching umbrella, original Sesame Street DVD's, play silks and a little cat lovey. Let's see how she took to receiving presents:

Giddyup!

By golly, I think she likes it!

In the last month, Asha Ruby's ever changing set of skills has also continued to grow. She is now much more accurate with her hands and likes to grab everything in sight, or at least point us towards the next object she needs to explore. Her strength is also building as she is getting closer to sitting by herself unassisted.

And now for a special treat since the blogging rate has bogged down, we present the hotly anticipated new horror-comedy flick "Mama Attack":
