Busy Roob-bee

As she buzzes in towards nine months old, the days find our little Asha Ruby a busy, busy bee. Asha now spends most of her waking hours creeping, crawling, climbing, cruising and just generally looking for trouble. No longer content to be a babe-in-arms, our little Ruby baby wants to explore, experience and taste the world around her. To little Asha Ruby, life is sweet!



Although Roobs is still a part-time creeper, she continues to integrate the traditional cross-crawl into her daily repitoire. Add climbing and cruising to the mix, and Ruby racer has many methods of transport to get to her chosen destination --whether that be tracking and tackling Johnny or exploring the kitchen cabinets for paper (the baby drug of choice).



In addition to her oft mama-thwarted attempts to ingest paper, Asha Ruby is beginning to show an interest in actually swallowing food. Papa Morris has become a baby-feeder extraordinaire, and he and the Roobs enjoy their dinner culinary explorations. Asha Roobs feasts on mush -- orange-colored mush is her favorite -- and has been known to consume quantities of up to one tablespoon in a given sitting. Tasty!

From creeping to cruising

While Mama and Papa Morris have spotted a few crawls among the creeps the past few days, Asha Ruby is amazing us with the beginnings of yet another physical milestone -- cruising the furniture! That's right, Roobs will now pull herself up to standing and take a few steps or shuffles towards an object that looks like it might be nice to stick in her mouth. Not only that, but the other morning I gave her a crate to push around and test out her new biped mobility and she was able to travel around the hardwood, much like an old geezer would push around a walker (and she continues to have the toothless grin to match!)



Our little Roobs seems to be on a developmental leap right now, and her spunky personality is becoming more and more obvious as her mental and physical skills increase. We are having a lot of fun watching her sense of humor emerge. Even though she is still not too down on eating (well, swallowing) many table foods, she seems to enjoy her time at the table, and appears to have inherited Mama Morris' world famous table manners.



Roobadoob has been increasing her verbal stylings as well, and we've even heard her practicing a few "papa" sounds while she scales Papa Morris like a climbing gym, or tugs on his hair to wake him up for work in the morning. Here is Asha and her Papa on a recent Saturday afternoon, spending time together doing some of the things they enjoy most (and do the most often):
