Photos from Corinne

Corinne has just posted some new photos of Asha and Leanne from a visit at Magnuson Park last week. She managed to catch some new expressions that the Roobs doesn't bring out while she's at home:

Spending time with Papa

For the past couple of weeks, little Roobsicle has been putting her newfound mobility to great use, "creeping" around towards the many objects of interest for closer investigation. (We found out that "creeping" is the correct word for her method of locomotion, since scooting implies sliding around on the bum.) In fact, the latest batch of pictures reveal a subtle difference... in most of the pictures, the place where we took the picture is not where we put her down! Case in point:

Good thing those shoes don't touch the ground!

Since creeping is the skill du jour, we have put the solid foods back on hold for now until Asha Rubes shows more interest. Her next favorite thing these days is making a host of new sounds. Among her new repertoire is some cute babbling which typically sounds like: "ma ma ma ma ma...". She has also developed a really funny laugh that sounds like a cross between a laugh and a cough.

For our latest video of Asha's escapades, we've put together a montage of fun times with her papa that we've captured over the past month. Enjoy!

Happy half-birthday!

Over the past week, our little A-Roobs passed the big 6 month mark... also popularly known as the half-birthday. (Hallmark really needs to pick up on this one.) She had her 6 month check up and weighed in at a healthy 15 lbs, 4 oz, good for 35th percentile. She also came in at the 90th percentile for length and head size. Looks like we may have another ectomoph in the family...

To celebrate, Asha has been embarking on all sorts of new adventures. For example, she has officially graduated from the bouncy chair to her very own (high) chair at the dinner table. And while she may not be quite ready to eat solid food yet, that doesn't mean she shouldn't be able to join in on mealtime! I mean, who says you actually have to get the food in your mouth and swallow it to enjoy dinner? As they say, a picture speaks a thousand words:

Sweet Potato Head

While the wait for the first tooth continues, our little sweet and (formerly) helpless one decided to pick up another new skill; one that starts now and won't be finished until 16 years from now (at least) when she gets her driver's license... mobility! That's right, the Roobmeister can now get from point A to point B (under certain conditions) with no outside intervention. Needless to say, Mama and Papa are a little freaked out, so we will use the word "scooting" rather than the "c" word to describe her movement. It is rather slow after all...

To get around, Asha Roobs has adopted the commando style, which apparently is not only used in the jungle. She has been building up the strength for this feat using a number of other exercises, leading to successful scooting around on various surfaces. If you look closely, you'll also spot simulated jungle creatures roaming around for added realism.
